Evaluation and Treatment of Knee Pain
As a result of this activity, the learner will be able to:
Describe commonly used orthopedic exam techniques such as a flexion pinch and anterior drawer test for the knee
Perform the more commonly incorporated examination techniques used in a musculoskeletal examination for the knee joint
Incorporate the use of orthopedic examinations into their practice
Orthopedics: Upper Extremities
As a result of this activity, the learner will be able to:
Identify the primary pathology that affects the shoulder of an adult patient.
Recognize shoulder diagnoses that can be treated by the primary care clinician vs those requiring urgent referral to a specialist.
Discuss treatment options for the primary care provider for common shoulder pathology.
Pitfalls in Orthopedics for the Primary Care Practitioner
As a result of this activity, the learner will be able to:
Discuss and perform the orthopedic physical exam.
Evaluate and diagnose common orthopedic problems in the primary care setting.
Using case studies, highlight diagnosis, differential, and treatment of common orthopedic issues.
Radiology Interpretation: Upper and Lower Extremities
As a result of this activity, the learner will be able to:
Describe a systematic approach to viewing and interpreting radiographs.
List basic descriptors used to describe a fracture & basic fracture patterns.
Identify essential anatomic landmarks when viewing selected upper and lower extremity x-rays.
TIME TO COMPLETE
Approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes.
Each video is accessible twice within six months of purchase.
CREDITS
NPACE designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.5 CNE credit(s), of which 1.5 is pharmacology credit. Participants should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Michael E. Zychowicz, DNP is a Professor at Duke University School of Nursing. Dr. Zychowicz has built a 20-year career in orthopedics as both a clinician, educator, and scholar. He leads the only Orthopedic NP graduate educational program at Duke University. Dr. Zychowicz is board certified as both an Adult NP and Orthopedic NP.

Karen M. Myrick, DNP, APRN, FNP, ONP, FAAN, is an Associate Professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Health and Science, Department of Nursing, University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, Connecticut, and the track coordinator for the Post-Master's Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Certificate program for Nurse Practitioners and Physician. Assistants. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Connecticut.
Dr. Christopher Hemmer, DNP, ANP, ONP-C, FAANP

Assistant Professor, Saint Louis University School of Nursing
Dr. Hemmer has been board certified as an adult nurse practitioner since 1999. He is also a board-certified orthopedic nurse practitioner and a fellow of the American Association of nurse practitioners. His area of specialty is in adult spinal disorders for the last 22 years. He currently evaluates new patients as well as established pre and post-operative patients.
Kim Zuber, PA-C

Kim Zuber graduated from UCSD with a bachelor’s in molecular biology and chemistry, picked up a teaching credential at San Diego State University and taught high school for many years. Deciding that medicine had to be easier than teaching teenagers, Kim went on to attend the St. Louis University PA program.

A refund less shipping cost will be issued for physical products returned to APEA in brand new condition within 30 days from the shipping date. If the product was shrink wrapped, the original shrink wrap must be intact to be eligible for refund. APEA does not pay return shipping charges. APEA reserves the right to change this policy at any time without notice.
