Clinical Case Studies

APEA’s Clinical Case Studies provides Nurse Practitioner students a virtual way to practice and apply their 3P knowledge to diagnose and treat patients. Students will work through each case study specifically focused on the assessment process, the application of the 3Ps and mastery of the 3Ps. Each case study is brief, realistic and gives students exposure to diagnoses and the variations among patients that may present with the same diagnosis. As students complete a case study, they can review detailed rationales to deepen their learning. Faculty can review results instantaneously allowing them to tailor class time for remediation efforts when needed to guarantee understanding.

Secure Exams

APEA offers secure FNP, AGPCNP, and PNP-PC exams. Each exam provides randomized multiple-choice questions that have been extensively tested and analyzed for reliability and validity. APEA offers the only predictive exams on the market.

  • The APEA 3P Exam evaluates student knowledge of pharmacotherapeutics, pathophysiology, and physical assessment, which are indicators of clinical readiness. This is a 110-minute exam with 90 questions.
  • The APEA Competency Exams evaluate competency in pediatrics or women's health and are designed to measure the specific knowledge, abilities and behaviors required to care for the pediatric or women's health population within a family nurse practitioner primary care role. This is a 3-hour exam with 150 questions.
  • The APEA Pre-Predictor Exam is administered at the beginning of the last semester, allowing students to remediate weaknesses in preparation for the APEA University Predictor Exams for FNP and AGPCNP students. This is a 3-hour exam with 150 questions.
  • The APEA University Predictor Exam is administered at the end of the last semester as preparation for the FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PMHNP, PNP, and WHNP certification exams. The results predict likelihood of success on the national exams for these specialties. APEA's University Predictor Exam is considered a national standardized comprehensive exit exam and can be used as a tool for student and curriculum evaluation. This is a 3-hour exam with 150 questions.
  • Exam Results Reports: APEA exam reports provide detailed cohort and student results by expanding the knowledge areas to reflect diagnoses that are correlated with the testing domains. These reports pinpoint cohort deficits and individual student knowledge strengths and deficits. APEA student reports assist students with creating a more specialized study plan for improving their knowledge gaps. This reporting system is beneficial for preparing them for the certification exam.
